Unacceptable Worship
Ignorant Worship
1. "Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore you ignorantly worship him declare I unto you " (Acts 17:22, 23).
Will Worship
2. "Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments (principles) of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances (rules), (touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?" (Col 2: 20-22).
3. "Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh" (Col 2:23).
Vain Worship
4. "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men" (Matt 15:9).
Acceptable Worship
5. "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him" (Jn 4:23).
6. "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in sprit and in truth" (Jn 4:24).
